At Coupals Primary Academy, we believe that every child should have a voice and that their views should help shape school life. We are committed to listening to our pupils, valuing their ideas and acting on their feedback.
Through regular pupil voice activities, surveys, class discussions and leadership groups, we ensure that children play an active role in helping us improve our school. This commitment to listening to pupils is embedded across our school improvement work and helps us create an environment where children feel respected, valued and heard.
School Council
We have a large and active School Council, with representatives from across the school who regularly gather the views of their classmates and bring these ideas to council meetings. School Council members discuss a range of important topics, help identify areas for improvement and work alongside staff to make positive changes. Our School Council does not simply share opinions – it helps influence decisions about school life, enrichment opportunities, learning experiences, wellbeing and the wider school environment.
“You Said, We Did”
Listening is important, but acting on feedback is even more important. To ensure that pupils can see the impact of their ideas, we will be introducing a ‘You Said, We Did’ section during our whole-school Monday assemblies at least once every half term. During these assemblies, School Council representatives will share:
- The feedback collected from pupils
- The issues and ideas discussed during School Council meetings
- Actions the school has taken in response
- Updates on projects and improvements
This helps ensure that all children understand how their views are valued and how they contribute to shaping our school.

Questions Designed by Children
As part of our commitment to genuine pupil voice, we also invite our School Council to create their own questions each term. We believe pupils often identify issues and opportunities that adults may overlook. Examples of pupil-generated questions might include:
- If you could change one thing about our school, what would it be and why?
- What makes you proud to be part of Place Farm Primary Academy?
- What helps you feel successful in school?
- What should adults know about being a pupil at Place Farm?
- Is there anything you would like to learn that we do not currently teach?
- What is the best thing about our school that we should never change?
- How can we make every child feel that they belong?
- What would make school even more exciting and enjoyable?
By combining pupil-led questions with our regular themes, we ensure that pupil voice remains authentic, meaningful and representative of the children at our school.
